The Aviation and Transportation Security Act
The Aviation and Transportation Security Act was established on November 19, 2001 by The United States. One of the main reasons that is was made was because of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and the many issues it caused. Many people felt that it wasn't safe to travel through the airlines anymore, so this was made to ensure the safety of all passengers and people. Ken Mead, the general of the department of transportation made ten rules after 9/11. Those rules are "The suspect watch list and intelligence sharing; intensified passenger and carry-on baggage screening; limited access beyond checkpoints; greater use of explosives detection equipment; re validating airport IDs; increasing the law enforcement officer presence at airports; expanding the federal air marshal program; deployment of National Guard Troops; reinforcement of cockpit doors, and better screening of cargo. All of these new changes are extremely costly for the many countries and the airline tickets for the passengers are skyrocketing. With all of these new regulations brings many different issues, arguments, and concerns throughout the whole world, though they are both good and bad.
There is pretty much only one good asset of The Aviation and Transportation Security Act. That is safety, and it probably is the most important of all. But of course, others disagree. Some of the bad assets are cost, privacy, the ability of citizens to freely move throughout their country's borders, difficulty getting from place to place, uncomfortable travel, and even racism is an important issue. So is someones safety more important than all of these things? Airline tickets are ridiculously expensive and so is everything else you buy at an airport. It is this way because of the act and everything that it requires. Workers are able to look through any person's belongings and that is an extremely great issue because every person has a right to their own privacy, and it is unlawful for them to do so. Usually a trip to the airport is not an easy one given everything you have to go through in order to get on a plane. Many people would rather drive to get to their destination to avoid such difficulty. Ever since the 9/11 attacks, people have been racist about other people's nationalities, especially at airports. The workers usually question and check non-Americans far more than they do Americans. It is not fair because any person of any race can try to smuggle a bomb on a plane. Not just the middle-eastern race because supposedly "everyone" of that race is involved or is a terrorist. Even with this act, some people are still able to smuggle bombs and such on planes and there have been a number of cases in which this has happened. So what is the point of making people go through all of these issues if they are still not safe? Of course, it is safer because they have caught bombs and if they would have had this security during the 9/11 attacks, maybe they wouldn't have happened. Safety comes first no matter the cost and what you have to go through to get it, so in the end it is definitely worth it. 531

The Invention of the Computer
It has taken many years, inventors, inventions, contributing, and hard work to achieve today's modern computer. Although there were many inventors who contributed to the making, the very first working computer was invented in 1936 in Germany by a man named Konrad Zuse. It was later reinvented in 1941, named Z3, which solved some of the issues that the original invention had and it was actually functional. The first model was named Z1 and it was the first program-controlled computer. It did not work very well, and broke down continuously. Also, because of its massive size (it was the size of a large room,) was hard to work and control. In 1945, Konrad Zuse brought to life another version called Plankalkuel, the first higher level programming language. In 1946, the first startup company was created by Zuse called The Zuse-Ingenieurburo Hopfurau. In 1950, he leased the Z4, (the world's first commercial computer,) and people quickly were interested. In the United States, around the same time, scientists were working to develop a computer of their own, and it also quickly grew popular. From the year 1936 until now, inventors are still working and will continue to work to improve and invent more "important" things to add onto the computer.
The invention of the computer has changed the ways of technology for the whole entire world. It has changed in ways both good and bad and creates many different kinds of issues. But, it also has numerous good things about it and is extremely important in today's society. It is more powerful than anyone realizes, and all of that power can lead to destruction, but also production. Some may argue that computers should not be allowed to evolve any more than they already have. Others argue that technology is essential in today's society and it should keep evolving and getting better. But, people have been able to live for thousands of years and seemed to be doing just fine without it. It is also the same for many other countries who have just been introduced to these new technologies. Even though the invention of the computer is supposed to be used for good things, there is such a wide variation of things you can look up on the Internet now. And those things, if used by the wrong kind of people, can be used to do harm to anyone or anything. An example of that would be online chatting sites. Predators go on those and are able to talk to kids, which can and have resulted in harm being done to the kids. Since computers have evolved so quickly overtime and continue to get smarter and smarter, imagine twenty years from now. Computers twenty years from now will probably be numerous times smarter than they are right now. And with that intelligence and more possibilities, brings more ways for harm to be done. There are of course positive assets of the computer. In today's society it is essential in our lives because almost everything we do now revolves around it. Businesses, schools, and households each have a computer because it is part of every one's daily lives. But how did it get to that point, where everyone relies on a computer for every little thing? Commercials and soliciting are probably the main cause. They tell you that you need to have something, but you can function quite well without it. And every person is capable of doing a lot of things that a computer does for you. But doing those things on your own takes time, and people are very impatient nowadays. So, computers are essential in today's and future societies. Even though there are many problems that can arise because of them, there are more good things than bad that come out of computers. 635

The Non-Aggression Pact
In the year of 1939, just a couple of days before World War II actually started, Adolf Hitler and The Soviet Union made a pact never to attack each other or cause any problems for ten years. This pact, named by Hitler is called the Non-Aggression Pact. But, not surprisingly, it lasted only for two years. This pact was a way both for Hitler and The Soviets to defeat more countries and therefore gain more power. But, it was supposed to be something like a peace treaty between the two countries. Little did The Soviets know that Germany is Germany and they would do anything to get more power. Without this pact even being creatd, TheNazi's probably would never have lasted as long as they did. The first agreement stated that the Soviet Union gave food products and materials to Germany, while Germany gave them products like machinery that could aide them in the war. Another agreement that was made was the Soviets were not allowed to join a possible WWII. Because of that, Germany gave them The Baltic States and Poland was to be divided between them. Everything between The Soviet Union and Germany seemed to be going good and under control, until June 22, 1941. The Germans were suposedly planning a surprise attack on The Soviets from the very beginning and on that day, it actually happened. Since The Soviets were so surprised because Hitler was actually breaking the pact that he himself set up, they weren't prepared to fight against a powerful Germany and surrendered quickly. This attack shook the world and made them realize that they were in another war. The Non-Aggression Pact was Hitler's creative strategy to not only gain more power, but to take over the world.
Some people may argue that Hitler attacking the Soviet Union when they had a pact lead to the Nazi's ending. They think this because attacking one of their closest allies not only gained them more enemies, but made the world think badly of them. Even though they controlled most of Europe at the time, there are so many other countries who were starting to realize what was going on. They realized that Hitler was trying to take over the world and they felt the need to step in and help. With their help and all of the enemies that Germany had, they evetually did get defeated. Another argument that has been discussed is whether The Non-Aggression Pact actually helped Germany and The Soviet Union. In Germany's case, it did help them gain control of more countries, but in doing so created more enemies. In the Soviet Union's case, it really didn't help them at all. To Germany, The Non-Aggression Pact was fake and use to gai more power only. Germany didn't care about the Soviet Union; they were faking the whole thing. But, since The Soviets did not know about that until they were surprise attacked, they benefited, or they thought they did by getting half of Poland. But when they were attacked, they no longer had Poland. So, in the long run The Non-Aggression Pact did not help The Soviet Union what so ever. 533

The New Deal
In the 1930's, The United States suffered from The Great Depression. It was probably the worst depression The United States has ever known, but some say that the economy today is as worse as it was back then. Many people lost their jobs, homes, and many other personal possessions due to the stock market crash and the banks running out of money. One out of every four workers had no job and many families could not afford food to feed themselves and their children. As well-known as The Great Depression was, The New Deal, a system of reform programs created to solve the many problems made by The Great Depression, is not as well-known as it should be. It took place from 1933-1939 and its goal was for relief, recovery, and reform. The New Deal consisted of helping the victims of the depression, guaranteed minimum living standards, federal action to stimulate industrial recovery, and to make sure another economic crisis would never happen again. Many different agencies were made in 1933 under The National Recovery Act which regulated wages, working conditions, credit terms, and prices. The National Industry Recovery Act, another New Deal built libraries, schools, roads, and aircraft carriers for the navy. It also spent six billion dollars which made building contractors hire 650,000 workers. In all, The National Industry Recovery Act spent eleven billion dollars to give eight million people jobs. The next act was called The Fair Labor Standards Act in 1938 and it controlled the minimum wage and maximum-hours policy. But, it only made the economy worse and some people started to turn against The New Deal.
Some people may argue that The New Deal was a waste of money and proved to be ineffective in helping The Great Depression. Others argue that without The New Deal, the economy would have never been able to bounce back, at least not at the time that it did. There is proof that Roosevelt's New Deal actually made the economy worse. It tripled taxes and made it more expensive for people to be hired for jobs. Since many people were in search for jobs and the employers did not have enough money to hire them, this left millions of people without employment. President Roosevelt ordered many banks to be split up and it was extremely difficult to produce food and for people to buy it because the prices were at an extreme. If the purpose of The New Deal was to lower prices and help create jobs for workers, then why do so many people argue that it just made things worse? In today's society, the economy is much like The Great Depression. It seems as though the government is not spending any money to make the situation any better. Since society today is much the same as in the 1930's, if a "new deal" was made by President Obama would it help or hurt the economy? The government is spending loads of money on unnecessary things, like the war in Iraq when they could be spending it on relief programs to help the economy. But if they spent money to help the economy, it is difficult to tell if there would be a repeat of effects like The New Deal had. Without The New Deal ever being made, The Great Depression would have ended anyways due to World War II. WWII is the most probable cause of the end of The Great Depression. American factories produced war goods and sold them to many different nations, and many Americans joined the military, therefore ending The Great Depression. After WWII was over, many nations perished and The United States has stayed on top ever since. 617
